Mental Disorder Studies
Many things can classify as a mental disorder. Mental disorders can
be physiological in nature, and while most mental disorders do have a
physiological component, some can be more environmentally based.
Disorders such as bi-polarism are based in an individual's biology while
things like ptsd are environmentally based. Many mental disorders are
caused by a combination of the two factors, biological and
environmental, contemporaneously.
With mental health being such a hot button topic these days, many are trying to understand the differences in individuals and the causes of mental disorders. Healthy volunteers are actually as important as participants with mental disorders, because many researchers are comparing many individuals to one another in an attempt to understand differences in individuals, and, at times, different effects that drugs may cause on individuals with or without the prevalence of a mental disorder.
